In the third season 1980/1981 the World Cup Jumping had 4 leagues with a total of 36 competitions in 16 countries. The top placed of the leagues met from 22.-26.04.1981 for the World Cup Final in Birmingham (GBR).

Western European League: Gilles Bertran de Balanda (FRA) - Galoubet Malesan
North American League: Melanie Smith (USA) - Calypso / Val de Loire
South American League - South: Roberto Tagle (ARG) - Estio
Australien - Pacific League: Guy Creighton (AUS) - Micknail / Spring Melody / Swap

Max E. Ammann was Director of the World Cup Jumping from 1978 to 2003. With network4events (former Editions Hippiques) he was responsible for the rules and regulations; he did the contract negotiations with the organisers, the sponsors and the TV stations. He supervised the financial aspects of the project and took care of the relations to the World Cup sponsor Volvo. He was responsible for the media and public relations and was the contact to the Jumping riders.
